Sophia Hotung
The Curious Storyteller Writer and Illustrator
Eurasian writer & illustrator Sophia Hotung rose to stardom with The Hong Konger collection, satirical artworks of Hong Kong based on The New Yorker magazine covers. This self-taught artist's biggest sources of inspiration are the details and nuances of everyday life, as well as the interactions between people and their environments.
Growing up in Hong Kong, Hotung rarely came across contemporary children's fiction set in her home city. Representation is so important and to put Hong Kong and its landmarks - like K11 ARTUS - on the map for young readers is an important step in showing the next generation of Asian writers that Asian cities are worth writing about, reading about, and exploring, both on the page and in real life.
